Black Dental History Month!...Our 'Dentalist Of The Week!'...Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede [BSc Hons, BChD (Ife), MPH (Lagos), PhD (UWC), DDPH RCS (England), FFD RCS (Ireland), FICD, FNCS, FNAMed!

 

Our 'Dentalist of the Week'

for this week 

is: 

the Beautiful Black Man who founded and 

opened in 2015 the first Dental Museum in 

Africa and the first specialized museum in 

Nigeria, called the Dema Foundation 

Dental Museum, on Ilesa Road in Ilelfe, 

Oson State, Nigeria, and it houses 

documents concerning the history and 

evolution of Dentistry in the country, and 

it contains the first dental chair used in 

Nigeria, along with older versions of 

instruments, computers and photographs 

and biographies of early professionals, 

and he was the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi 

Awolowo University (OAU), but it all 

started when he earned, with honors, his 

BS degree in 1981 and Bachelors of 

Dental Surgery (BChD) in 1985 at 

OAUniversity, then attended U. of Lagos 

for his Master of Public Health in 1989, 

after which he got a Dental Diploma in 

Public Health from the Royal College of 

Surgeons in Ireland, and he is a Foundation 

Fellow with the Nigerian Academy of 

Medicine, and has a PhD from U. of

Western Cape, South Africa, plus he 

became a Professor at OAU and Dean of 

Faculty and a Provost there, and he is a 

visiting professor at multiple Dental 

Schools all over, including Harvard Dental, 

and he established the first government 

Dental Clinic in Nigeria, while also 

writing over 100 full-length, peer-reviewed 

scientific papers, and he wrote at least 

four books, and 50 conference abstracts 

and is the Foundation Editor-in-Chief 

of the African Journal of Oral Health

along with being head of the Nigerian 

Division of the International Association 

for Dental research, plus he is on the 

editorial boards of multiple international 

and national journals, and has won 

many distinguished awards all over 

the world, plus there are many other 

accomplishments, and he really is the 

'Biggest and Baddest Dentalist' in Africa, 

and we give flowers and say the name of...

founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S. 

in 2025 to point out, salute, and show 

much love, with a Big Smile, to the 

thousands and thousands, soon 

approaching millions, of 

International Black Men and Women 

on the Dental Healthcare Teams of the 

world who help to maintain and 

restore the aesthetics and functions 

of the oral structures of the 

World's Patients.
